Michael Flavian Zeugin

Writer/Photographer - University Lecturer - Sports Instructor

Michael Zeugin is a writer/photographer and University Lecturer who pursues a variety of outdoor activities. An advanced snowsports instructor and backcountry guide, surfer and windsurfer, he also canoes, fishes, hunts, hikes, mountain bikes and is sometimes seen on horseback.

Zeugin has published in a wide variety of genres. His writing, photography and collaborative production work have been cover featured numerous times. Michael's photographic exhibits have been hosted at a variety of public venues.  His most recent image collection,  Wawayanda Winter, was hosted by the international organization the Nature Conservancy at their Newton, New Jersey in winter of 2005.  Zeugin's other exhibit,This Bucolic Valley, has been hosted by Poricy Park Nature Center, James Barrett House Museum and the Dorothy E. Henry Library, in New Jersey. His writing and photography covering outdoor activities, environmental subjects, public land and recreation issues have appeared in The New York Conservationist, Adirondacklife.com, The Adirondack Explorer, Skylands Visitor, New Jersey Outdoors, New England Windsurfing Journal, where he is a contributing editor, Straus Newspapers and Appalachian Mountain Club Outdoors. Zeugin's Op-Ed pieces span his various careers and sub-specialties.

Michael has appeared in a number of venues as a snowsports expert, including WABC television's New Jersey Viewpoint. As an outgrowth of his publishing work, and teaching technical writing, Zeugin has also done conceptual website and design work, and edited articles ranging from popular publications to doctoral dissertations.

With BA degrees in Human Resource Management, English, German Translation and Psychology from Upsala College, Zeugin went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in English Writing at Rutgers University, where he teaches English and Writing courses ranging from undergraduate developmental courses to graduate workshops. He also teaches Humanities and Social Sciences for New Jersey Institute of Technology, for which he developed a hybrid Photojournalism course.   Zeugin has been profiled in a number of professional publications.  His active mentoring of students has brought their writing and photography to publication, most recently in The Newark Metro an online magazine, where Zeugin has also published work.

Michael is certified member of ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) and multi-discipline certified by Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors in Nordic Downhill (Telemark), Alpine, Nordic Track and Skate (Cross Country) and Snowboard instruction. He acts as a personal snowsports trainer and guide for a select clientele.

In his spare time Zeugin, writes and performs music, designs and build houses, develops properties, and buys, sells, and maintains European sports cars and super-bikes.
